Alma was born in Poland to Michael and Agnes Ginter on June 8, 1923 and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1928. They settled in Alberta and then moved to the Swan River Valley in 1933. On August 20, 1943 Alma married Edward Gellert and settled in Bowsman and raised four children.

Alma loved her quilting and many crafts, gardening and flowers. She also loved to spend time with her family which meant so much to her, especially her great-grandchildren. She was active in the Horticultural Society and enjoyed many trips to flower gardens.
