Edith grew up in Roblin, and graduated from Roblin Goose Lake Collegiate.
She then taught at Locksley School, south of Grandview. The following
year, she attended Normal School in Winnipeg and received her teaching
certificate. She then went on to teach in Birnie, MB, Athabasca,
AB, Sugluk QC, and Coral Harbour NU. Her long-time wish to become
a nurse came true when she studied at the Winnipeg General Hospital
(not the Health Sciences Centre) and became a Registered Nurse in
1967. Upon graduation, she became a Public Health Nurse in the Roblin
District. Edith then went on to further her education in Public
Health, studying in Saskatoon. Following that, she worked in Public
Health in Neepawa, then was given a teaching position in Nursing
at the Winnipeg General Hospital. In1971, she married Jim Pyott
and moved to Swan River. Here, her career changed to raising cows,
pigs, and children. She worked very hard with Jim to build a happy,
loving family. Perhaps this was the accomplishment that gave her
the most satisfaction.
Edith was active in the community, begin very involved in such
organizations as 4-H and W.I. She was also an avid gardener, and
loved to work in her flower beds. Edith valued her friends and family,
and in return they valued her for her humour, directness, and compassion.
